THE TOWN OF TIBURON IS CURRENTLY SEEKING A HUMAN RESOURCES PROFESSIONAL FOR THE POSITION OF

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

SALARY:  $9,631 – $12,039 Monthly

THE POSITION: Join a team of dedicated professionals responsible for keeping one of Marin’s most beautiful Town’s operating smoothly. The Town of Tiburon is seeking an empowering, seasoned, self-motivated professional leader to serve as a Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Manager plans, organizes, coordinates, directs, and executes all activities in the Human Resources Division. This position oversees or participates in a variety of human resources program areas, including recruitment and selection, labor and employee relations, classification and compensation, risk analysis, benefits administration, organizational development, payroll, training and development, and personnel actions. This position leads major projects, coordinates activities with other departments, and conducts assignments with Town-wide impact. This position also participates as a member of the management team and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.

Education: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in human resources, organizational development, public administration, political science, or a closely related field.

Experience: Five (5) years of broad and increasingly responsible experience in human resources administration, including Two (2) years in a supervisory/management responsibility role. Municipal experience is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a physical disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
  • Possession of a professional human resources designation such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM- SCP, or SHRM-CP is desirable.

BENEFITS: The Town of Tiburon offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package that includes:

Retirement: “Classic Members” - CalPERS 2% @ 55 for employees currently enrolled in a reciprocal or CalPERS classic retirement plan. Employee pays the 7% employee contribution and 3% of the employer’s share contribution. “New Members” - CalPERS 2% @ 62 for employees new to CalPERS or with a six-month or longer break in a CalPERS or reciprocal retirement plan. Employee pays at least 50% of the Normal Cost of the Plan as calculated annually by CalPERS.

Life Insurance: The town pays a premium for a $25,000 term life insurance policy.

Dental: Town pays up to family plan Delta Dental policy.

Medical: The Town contributes up to the Kaiser two-party rate towards medical insurance for employees and eligible dependents. Employees can select from a variety of health plans that are administered through CalPERS. Employees eligible for family coverage will receive an additional contribution equal to the difference between the Kaiser family rate and Kaiser two-party rate towards a family plan.

Vacation & Sick Leave: Accrue 1 day per month. Vacation accrual rate increases after 5 years.

Holidays: 12 paid holidays per year.

Work Schedule: The Town is currently closed every other Friday, and staff members work a 9/80 schedule. A hybrid work schedule may be considered after the first six months of employment based on the needs of the Town.
